September 7th, 2010 — The Color Purple
I’m sure I’m not the only one who has noticed this, but the color seems to show up a lot in the city. It’s the background for their flag (which is admittedly pretty cool), one of the colors, along with orange, for the Phoenix Suns, and I’m sure I’ve seen it other places as well.
My theory would be something to do with the mountains in the region (Camelback, Piestewa, etc.), which I’ve always thought look kind of purple during the day, if viewed from a distance. At any rate, I was wondering whether anyone knew the real answer (assuming it’s not just a coincidence).
